Story Arc, Subplot and Relationships

I love reference books and highlighting everything that I find useful. A sudden thought popped into my head: where do I want Tattoos, Bones and Death to go? Not to mention, what are my subplots. With this in mind, I grabbed Writing the Paranormal Novel off my shelf and flipped to the section labeled subplots. I re-read all my marks and thus started to create the overall arc for my series. For, I am writing a series because the entire story can’t be told in one book. Plus, there’s a lot more of my world to discover.

Now, I have a good chunk of knowledge about the real culprit of Tattoos, Bones and Death. Thanks to this discover, I can now work on the long term relationship between my characters and how that’s going to complicate their goals. The arc will also show my characters’ development over time and it should be interesting to see it all play out. Now, on to writing out the current relationship (in the story) with one another.

Publishing Novel

As I mentioned before, I wasn’t so sure about publishing my NaNoWriMo novel. However, I thought more about it and I shall be posting the chapters up on Wattpad. I have included the link so if you want to check it out then feel. I will warn you that it won’t be edited though I will do my best to have my grammar fixed and everything smoothed out. Hopefully, all those you enjoy the story and have thoughts on it, will leave a comment. I really want positive feedback and helpful criticism. Thanks to the awesome people of wattpad, I have many covers for my story. I need to work on my cast as well but I have some idea of who I want; though I’m not saying just yet. Y’all have to wait until the first chapter is published. Speaking of publishing, I will probably writing the story out on paper then transferring it to a word document. I’ll be switching between the two. I’ll try my hardest to post a chapter everyday but don’t quote me on it. I do have to attend college and it’s not easy balancing a job, school and writing. However, I will do my very best to do so this month.

Outlining the Plot for my Novel

NaNoWriMo is right around the corner.

At first I was really nervous about writing something without a rough outline but now there is nothing much that worries me. I have been able to plan out some events that can happen in my story.Which is great because quite honestly, I need some plan to follow when writing. I’m not very good at improvising and last time I tried that, it didn’t go so well. I had to completely rewrite those scenes and the ripples that came afterward had to be changed. I’m not saying it is a bad thing to improvise. It is NaNoWriMo after all but I do like to have an idea of where I want to go. It makes me think about subplots that can happen in the meantime to add depth in my story. On a side note, my character list is made and I don’t think I need to add too much characters to it. The great thing is that anything can happen and the list can grow.

I still have to think about the overall theme but that should be simple enough. They won’t “in your face themes” but there is some themes going on. I only have to figure out what those will be.

NaNoWriMo 2014

This year I decided to document my progress through National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write 50,000 words in thirty days. The task seems daunting at first but it is possible. I myself have accomplished such a task – two years ago. I did participate last year but college comes first and I couldn’t sacrifice my grades. This year I shall try again and hopefully be able to finish.

During the month of November, I will be typing up posts with daily posts on my progress. These posts will probably be a few short lines unless I have something major to say. i.e. a huge scene, an epiphany, need of support, etc. Later on during the last weeks of October, I shall post up the title of my book. I have thought about posting up the rough draft of the story on wattpad.com. I’ll let y’all know if I do that.

I hope everyone can support me in my effort to accomplish this task.
